About StageTech

Krister Funder StageTech is a knowledge-company within the Optical Media industry. Its founder Krister Funder have been involved in the CD-business since 1986, with a past as Mastering manager at CD Mastering, Sweden. This was followed by a period of independent consulting all over the world in the fields of CD Pre-mastering, Glass-mastering and Replication.

Other activities developed within StageTech at this time was CD-premastering, with three mastering-rooms, equipped with Sony PCM1630/U-matic editing systems as well as hard-disk based editing systems.

Following the past experience in CD Pre-mastering and Glass-mastering, the development of very specialized CD-players targeting the CD Pre-mastering and Glass-mastering industry started. The first product, the D2D - Disc To Disc Mastering System, was a stand-alone system allowing CD-factories to make glass-masters directly from CD or CD-R discs without having to modify their glass-mastering systems. It was released at MIDEM 1994, and can now be found installed at a number of CD-factories world-wide, connected to mastering systems from Philips, ODM, ODME, Sony, ODC and Del Mar.

The next product, released at Replitech 1994, was the EC2 - Compact Disc Error Checker. It is a stand-alone CD-analyzer intended for verifying the quality of CD or CD-R discs after pre-mastering, before glass-mastering, in CD-production and CD-R duplication, for broadcasting and archiving or for anyone else interested in the quality of the CD's they use. This CD-analyzer is based on the experience gained when designing the D2D, finding out the critical parameters when a CD is used for glass-mastering purposes. Also specific knowledge of different CD-R types and CD-recorders and their use for mastering purposes are taken into account in the design and analysis.

A natural follow-up to the EC2, released at Replitech 1997, are the testers in the QA-series - Compact Disc Analyzers, stand-alone CD-analyzers intended for verifying the quality of replicated CD¹s in CD-production and copied CD-R¹s in CD-R duplication, for serious archiving and specifications testing.

In the following years, we contributed to the design of the front-end to the new Obducat DIMAS mastering system, including all input stations, the RAID-storage system and the EFM-encoding including subcode- and format-processing for all CD-formats.

1999 saw the introduction of the SplitVision Control & Display software. This is a PC-based Windows-software, controlling up to 8 testers simultaneously in the existing EC2 and QA Series product range, giving real-time VGA-display and high-resolution printing!

1999 also saw the introduction of our XB2 - Exabyte Player & Error Checker for DDP Exabyte tapes, having the capability of not only testing the tapes but also to playback audio-tapes in real-time like any tape-machine for listening to or copying purpose!

As a follow-up to SplitVision, in 2002 the VisionOne Control & Display software was introduced. This is a PC-based Windows-software, controlling 1 tester in the existing EC2 and QA Series product range, giving real-time VGA-display and high-resolution printing!

We welcome You to our world of innovative products for the CD Industry!
